The Novartis campus in Basel features a compact 240 square metre open courtyard garden designed by Wirtz International. Despite its small size, the garden creates an impactful green moment within the pharmaceutical campus.

The design uses dense planting and precise hedging to create a miniature garden world within the confines of the courtyard. The green composition provides a living artwork visible from the surrounding office floors.

As both a courtyard and a roof-level garden, the project addresses the technical challenges of growing plants in a contained environment while maintaining a sense of effortless beauty.
