Het Plein
2000–2002
Kortrijk, Belgium

Het Plein in Kortrijk is a 10,205 square metre public park designed by Wirtz International. Completed between 2000 and 2002, it transformed an urban space into a structured green park for the city.

The design employs formal tree-lined avenues, clipped hedging, and generous lawn areas to create a park that serves both as a daily green space for residents and a civic gathering place. The structured layout provides clear sightlines and a sense of order within the urban context.
Seasonal plantings and mature trees create changing character throughout the year, ensuring the park remains a compelling destination in every season.

Het Plein is a model of how landscape architecture can enhance the public realm, providing a green heart for a city.
