City of Justice

The City of Justice in Barcelona is a major judicial campus comprising nine office buildings and a public plaza. At 230,000 square metres, it is one of the largest landscape projects undertaken by Wirtz International.

The landscape design creates a coherent green framework that unifies the various buildings into a single campus. Formal hedging, Mediterranean planting, and structured public spaces provide shade and visual order in the Catalan climate.
The project was developed between 2005 and 2011, requiring the landscape to work at both the grand urban scale and the human scale of individual courtyards and walkways.

The City of Justice demonstrates how landscape architecture can bring coherence to a large institutional complex, creating inviting public spaces that soften the urban environment.
