MG Toren

The MG Tower in Ghent features a 16,500 square metre garden built on the roof of an underground parking garage. Designed between 2008 and 2012, the project creates a substantial green space where none would otherwise exist.

The design overcomes the technical challenges of roof-level gardening to create a landscape that feels grounded and generous. Structured hedging, lawn areas, and tree plantings are arranged to create a garden that serves both the office building and the surrounding neighbourhood.
The project demonstrates the potential of roof gardens to add significant green infrastructure to dense urban developments.

MG Tower is an example of how landscape architecture can reclaim space from infrastructure, turning a car park into a garden.
