The Hufkens Art Gallery in Brussels is accompanied by a sculpture garden that has evolved over three decades. First designed in 1992 and refined through to 2022, the 650 square metre garden provides an outdoor extension of the gallery.
The garden creates a refined setting for the display of sculpture, with clipped hedging and restrained planting forming a neutral yet elegant backdrop. The long collaboration between the gallery and Wirtz International has allowed the garden to develop a depth and maturity rarely achieved in urban settings.
The Hufkens sculpture garden demonstrates the value of a sustained design partnership, resulting in a garden that is both a work of art in itself and a setting for art.
