Alnwick Garden

Alnwick Garden is one of the most ambitious garden restorations in the United Kingdom. Located in Northumberland, the garden adjoins Alnwick Castle and has been transformed into a spectacular contemporary garden that attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors annually.

Wirtz International was commissioned to design the ornamental garden, which features an intricate layout of clipped hedges, rose beds, and water features. The design balances the grandeur of the historic setting with a modern sensibility.
The rose garden, set within sculpted yew hedging, is one of the centrepieces. Thousands of English roses create a vibrant display from early summer through to autumn, while the surrounding topiary provides a year-round structural framework.

With over 81,500 square metres of designed landscape, the garden demonstrates how formal design principles can create spaces that are both grand in scale and intimate in experience. The cascade fountain forms the central axis, drawing visitors through the garden.
